talkSPORT host eats two-foot hot dog that will be sold at West Hams London Stadium this summer as
Andy Goldstein took on the ‘Boomstick Challenge’ for talkSPORT as he chowed down on a giant hot dog to celebrate the return of baseball to London.
It’s one month to go until America’s Pastime comes to the English capital as the Chicago Cubs and St. Louis Cardinals do battle in the second ever MLB London Series this summer.
But it’s not just the national game they’re bringing over, it’s their super-sized menu, too, with a host of Stateside classics available in the London Stadium stands - and we mean super-size.
The headline act in the line-up is the ‘boomstick’ - a two-foot long hot dog that weighs in at a whopping 1.5kg, will set you back 2,000 calories and is recommended to serve FOUR people… or one very hungry or ambitious eater.
We all love a challenge.
Far from your simple wiener in a bun, this baseball bat sized pork behemoth is loaded with braised beef and chilli, topped with jalapenos, nacho cheese and sour cream.

And it’s bat-flippin’ delicious.
Someone who knows that very well is Drivetime host Goldstein, who was issued with a challenge to devour the entire thing by fellow talkSPORT presenters Paul Hawksbee and Andy Jacobs.
He did a grand job, too, but the last bite proved too much. Could you do better? Only one way to find out…
More than 120,000 fans are expected to fill the London Stadium as West Ham’s home ground undergoes a three-week transformation to become a 62,500-seater ballpark.

The MLB London Series returns to the capital after a successful debut in 2019 as the New York Yankees and Boston Red Sox brought their iconic rivalry to Europe for the first time.
Why the Cubs and Cardinals this time around? Known as the 'Route 66 Rivalry', they share a historic hatred that goes back over 130 years.
It’s one of the oldest and bitterest grudge matches in baseball, between neighbouring states Illinois and Missouri, and there is no love lost between them. Expect things to get heated… whether you get jalapenos on your hot dog or not.
The Cubs are one of baseball’s iconic teams, whose Wrigley Field is the second-oldest ballpark in the game [behind Fenway Park in Boston], while the Cardinals’ record of 11 World Series wins is only behind the Yankees… and they also have a moustachioed pitcher nicknamed ‘Lizard King’ - because he once ate a lizard mid-game.
Home runs, giant hot dogs, lizard-eating players - what a sport!
Their meeting this summer is three years behind schedule after the 2020 games were postponed, like everything else, due to COVID-19.
Baseball is back in 2024, too, with reports in the States claiming New York Mets - who boast one of MLB’s biggest hitters in Pete Alonso - and Philadelphia Phillies will be the next clubs to make the trip across the channel.
The ‘boomstick’ isn’t the only big attraction for foodies wanting to get a taste of Americana at this year’s games - there’s also a two-foot long serving of loaded nachos, hot dogs inspired by each city, sweet sweet mac and cheese and - get this - a DONUT BURGER, which has got to be seen to be believed.
To wash down all that grub, they’re also installing TEN new bars in and around the London Stadium, including two on a platform in the East Stand so you can get your beer on [other beverages are available].
And yes, you CAN drink it in the stands.
That’s not forgetting baseball’s iconic ‘hawkers’ who will bring you hot dogs, popcorn and Cracker Jack [bags of candied popcorn and peanuts widely sold at baseball games] to your seat.
It’s a lazy sports lover’s dream and has all the makings of a perfect summer weekend of American sport.
